Vitamin K2 is not a very popular vitamin, but it is very valuable for the body. It was discovered at the beginning of the twentieth century as an important component for blood clotting. It effectively prevents the production of free radicals in the body as soon as they are formed. By activating proteins, it regulates the distribution of calcium in the places where it is most needed. By preventing the accumulation of calcium in the arteries, it prevents cardiovascular diseases. The involvement of vitamin K2 in the metabolism of calcium, the main component of bones, is huge. Its adequate level prevents fractures and changes in bone density. Vitamin K2 is produced in small quantities in the large intestine, but these are insufficient. The correct level can only be achieved through supplementation. The benefits of vitamin K2 supplementation can be enhanced by combining it with vitamin D3. The synergistic effect of these vitamins also affects testosterone levels - they increase and determine their level in the body, which is desirable and important for athletes.
We should therefore not forget about vitamin K2, because it is one of the most important vitamins, although it is hardly known.
